IHOP grabbed our all attention a few months back when they announced they were rebranding at IHOB – the International House of Burgers. It turned out to be nothing more than a gimmick creating hype for their new burger menu – but it does appear that IHOP is still creating all the same, as they’ve just released a new beer, which they predictably bill as IHOPS.

IHOPS was created as part of a collaboration with Keegan Ales (which hails from Kingston, NY) and is fully entitled IHOPS Pumpkin Pancake Stout. Created just in time for fall, it tastes like pumpkin, pancakes and maple syrup – almost like the beer version of a pumpkin spice latte. It’s intended to be paired with their lineup of fall pancakes, which includes Pumpkin Spice, Cinn-A-Stack and Pumpkin Cinn-A-Stacks, and supposedly contains actual pancake batter, mixed right in there.

As fans of dark stout, pumpkin, pancakes and most especially maple syrup – sounds delicious to us. Sure, it’s a little bit odd that a breakfast place is creating beer now, but hey, if it’s a good beer we ain’t complaining. It is a seasonal release, so you better act fast if you want to try it out. It won’t be available in IHOP restaurants.  but you can find it at “certain distributors and festivals in the New York area” this October. Hopefully next year, they’ll plan a wide release so the rest of us in the country can try it out.
