We like bourbon, you like bourbon, and it looks like Matthew McConaughey likes Bourbon too. In fact, he has served as the Creative Director for Wild Turkey for the past two years, perhaps overseeing their marketing and and so now they’ve gone ahead and teamed up to bring you Wild Turkey Longbranch Bourbon, a whiskey distilled and mixed exactly the way McConaughey likes it.
They started by taking Wild Turkey that has been aged 8 years, and then infusing it with some Texas style, using mesquite wood during the charcoal filtration process (a necessary step for all Bourbon’s) as well as oak. As a result, it tastes much like your classic bourbon, with notes of vanilla, spice, pepper, caramel. But, it’s also got a unique, tangy sweetness lent to it by the Texan Mesquite, that you won’t find in a lot of other whiskeys. It’s got a very bright, clear color.
The actor himself had to say this about the drink: “Longbranch, in its simplest form, is an extended hand, inviting a friend into your family. So the branch that was extended to me from the Russells was a long one, one that reached from Kentucky to Texas and back again. I offered the Mesquite from my great state to add to their legendary Kentucky whiskey and together we made Longbranch.”
