06 Apr The Zenvo TSR-S is 1177 HP of Street Legal Racing Car
If that sounds too good to be true, we really don’t blame you for thinking so. Most cars capable of 1177 HP aren’t street-legal. Actually, there aren’t a lot of cars with that much horsepower to begin with. But Denmark’s first hypercar maker isn’t known for resting on their laurels. The Zenvo TSR-S was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, and is a hybrid between Zenvo’s TS1-GT and the TSR, it’s racetrack-ready counterpart. The “S” in the name denotes that “street-legal” factor.
Under the TSR-S’s hood is a Zenvo 5.8-litre V8 flatplane, with Twin Centrifugal Superchargers and sequential fuel injection. It creates a whopping 1177 horsepower, all channeled into a Paddle shift 7-speed gearbox, which includes helical-cut dog gears. Top speed is electronically limited to 202 MPH, and it can hit 0-60 in less than 2.8 seconds, and 0-124 in 6.8. Impressive.
To make sure the body can handle all that power, Zenvo has equipped the car with a Lightweight steel/aluminium semi-monocoque, with front and rear racing steel sub-frames, and entirely carbon-fiber body. The whole thing is designed with aerodynamics in mind; it has a front splitter designed to increase front to rear downforce and keep the car on the ground, and it features what Zenvo calls a “Centripetal Wing”, which has two degrees of give, so it can be an air break and stabilize the car around corners. Lastly, they equipped the rear with a diffuser, which extracts air from underneath the car.
All, that, and it weighs only 3296 pounds. To cut down on weight, they’ve ditched a lot of otherwise standard features, like a sound system, air-condition and airbags. (So maybe not a good daily driver….)
Rounding out the ensemble are Carbon ceramic discs with six-piston calipers, and forged aluminum wheels, equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.
Sound like something you’d like to try out? Zenvo produces only 5 TSR-S’ a year – and there is still no word on price.
