Taylor Stitch is a California-based lifestyle brand that produces some of the best, bombproof, classically-inspired clothing we’ve laid eyes on. So whenever we see a new piece of theirs, we’re pretty excited to see what they have in store. And so far, nothing has been as impressive as their Moto Jacket.
The Taylor Stitch Moto Jacket is handmade in San Francisco by Golden Bear Sportswear Leather, who has been making traditional leather pieces since 1922. It’s cut in the cloth of a classic moto jacket, made from chrome-tanned, drum-dyed 3.5oz full-grain steerhide leather. The Whiskey steerhide – which would be our color of choice – is gorgeous and rich, every bit as sharp and stylish as a good leather jacket should be.
Inside is a grey insulated diamond quilting, and the pockets are all lined with flannel. There’s a 3″ collar with hidden collar stay snaps, two double welted zippered chest pockets, two reinforced double welted side entry pockets, and an tnterior leather trimmed chest welt pocket; there’s really no detail Taylor Stitch didn’t miss on this jacket. The zippers are YKK antique brass, and they’ve given it a “bi-swing” shoulder that allows for a much greater range of motion.
Like we said, this is one beautiful leather jacket. One that’ll make you look every bit as cool as you are. It’s expensive, yes, but could be an investment worth every penny – and will likely last you decades to come. Taylor Stitch wants you to be handing this jacket down to your kids, and their grandkids for decades. We don’t see why you wouldn’t be.
Also available in Tobacco Weatherproof Suede, and Black Steerhide. But man, we love that Whiskey Steerhide.
