Chipotle and tequila. Probably not your first idea for a tequila, or any spirit, for that matter. But Tanteo seems to be doing something right with their Chipotle Tequila. They bill themselves as the first real spice-infused tequila, and for those of us who enjoy adventurous flavors, that’s totally worth checking out.
How’s it done? Tanteo uses Blue Weber Agave harvested from the fields of Jalisco, Mexico, where the climate and terroir is ideal for cultivating the plant’s best flavor. The tequila process itself is fairly standard, but the magic happens when they start infusing those spicy flavors – Jalapeno, Chipotle and even Habanero. Everything is done by hand in small batches, and Tanteo even puts that care into the bottles, writing the lot number on the labels and placing their wax seal on the bottle, all by hand. Tanteo wants their product to be as handmade and genuine as possible, and they succeeded.
So how does it taste? The Tanteo Chipotle is exactly good as it sounds -a sweet tequila infused with spicy Chipotles from the mountains of Chihuahua. It’s the perfect blend of sweet and smoky spice and adds a real kick to any cocktail. Try it in a Smoky Margarita or a BBQ Bloody Mary. Good for firing up the grill on a hot summer’s night, or relaxing by the beach. It’s unique, to say the least.
