Nestled in the foothills of the absolutely gorgeous Sange De Cristo Mountains in New Mexico, is Santa Fe StoneWorks. Each of their knives is a beautifully-made, unique piece of art inspired by the Southwest.
The flagship line of Santa Fe StoneWorks is the Damascus Collection, which uses Damascus Steel from Japan – called Sanmai Damascus. Damascus Steel is known for its strength and ability to hold an edge, in addition to its unique, eye-catching aesthetic. The line ranges from the Woolly Mammoth Tusk 3”, at a steep $525, to the much more affordable Vein Turquoise 3”, at about $95. The Vein is a small, handy lock-back knife that features a core of VG-10 steel, which is covered in 16 layers of stainless steel, to make it a sturdy, hefty, worthy knife. The handle is made of beautiful Vein Turquoise, embedded in its host rock, harvested from the rocks of Nacozari Mine in Sonora, Mexico, giving the knife a truly gorgeous, exotic look. On the other side is a solid wood back. And since each piece of stone is different, you’re guaranteed to get your own unique knife.
The knife is only 3.1 inches when closed, and extends to a full 5.2 when the blade is opened and weighs only 2 ounces. Santa Fe Stoneworks also backs up their knives with a lifetime warranty in case of defects. This is a unique knife you’ll be proud to carry, that will look good as a part of your kit, and that you’ll have for a long, long time.
