Remember when all Otterbox made was phone cases? Badass phones, to be fair, but phone cases nonetheless. They’ve been expanding their product line recently, foraying into coolers and growlers. And now they’ve come out with a backpack cooler – the Otterbox Trooper Cooler.
Trooper Soft Coolers are lightweight, rugged and totally portable coolers, with a coated nylon exterior that is waterproof, puncture, UV and chemical resistant and a heavy-duty base that provides protection from abrasion on the bottom. It’s actually rated to IP65, which guarantees protection from water jets. Or more likely, rapid rivers where you might accidentally drop it while rafting or fishing. This also means it’s totally leakproof. What else did you expect from Otterbox?
The Trooper Cooler come in two versions – the ultralight, 20-quart Trooper 20, and the much larger, more tricked out Trooper LT 30, with – you guessed it – 30 quarts of space. While the Trooper 20 has only one water-resistant pocket for storage on the outside of the pack, the LT 30 has two, in addition to 50% more storage and the ability to quickly convert from a shoulder strap to backpack strap carry. On the outside, it even has a mounting system for attaching accessories.
The thermal insulation (the real reason you’re interested) can keep ice cold for up to 3 days, which is plenty long to keep some beers (or food) chilled, whether just for a day in the woods or a weekend trip in the great outdoors. The top opens wide for easy access, and the seal keeps things leakproof and secure. The lid is kept tight by a compound latch that you can use with one hand.
Bonus points: Otterbox even throws in a bottle opener, so you’ll never forget to bring one. They also back it up with their Lifetime Warranty. Not much else to ask for. Your drinks (and whatever else) will be safe, ice cold, and best of all – wherever you are.
