Trail running shoes can be stylish. Not that all trail runners are ugly of course. But they tend to look more aggressive than sharp. If you like Nike, for example, you might find yourself gravitating towards the Pegasus 36 Trail – the first offroad-ready version of Nike’s fantastic Pegasus.
Offroad Ready Rubber Outsole
To outfit this stylish running shoe for the trail, Nike gave it a soft rubber Pegasus outsole. One with bigger, bolder lugs, to create more stable and reliable traction on changing terrain off the pavement while still feeling comfortable and springy on the pavement. (The sole also just looks awesome). In a world of stiff offroad outsoles, a soft outsole with a bit of flexibility and tack feels welcome and lively.
The Pegasus 36’s midsole contains Zoom Air units – one heel and one in the forefoot – as well as ample cushioning for a soft, comfortable ride every time. And sitting on top of that is a breathable mesh synthetic upper that keeps you cool on any ride and is reinforced in the both forefoot and the heel for added durability against the many obstacles a rough trail can present. They also have Nike’s Lockdown Lacing System, which provides a stable, supportive fit around your ankle and base for tackling challenging terrain.
Additionally, the outsole features a groove in the middle, which is designed to let your feet roll and adapt to uneven terrain on the trail.
