Car Camping is Cool, but car camping with a hammock is even cooler – and the McLean Metalworks Hammock Mount is probably the coolest method of hammock camping we’ve come across.
This hammock mount is nothing more than a hitch-mounted hammock stand, CNC laser cut and welded from high-strength steel. A powder-coat finish ensures it can withstand any corrosion, rain or water that comes its way on the back of your truck, and it’ll fit in any III or IV 2” hitch and extends up to 114” long – accommodating most standard or camping hammocks. With a weight limit of 300 pounds, it’s strong enough to accommodate one or two people for a good night’s sleep or a relaxing afternoon nap in the shade.
The whole thing is completely self-contained and requires no additional parts. The arms collapse for transport and can be removed from the hitch-mounted frame simply by sliding out the locking pins. There’s no rattle or shake, either. When you’d like to put up the hammock, simply clip it on using carabiners and you’re ready to go.
It’s pricey, but we think totally worth it – and McLean Metalworks sells a less-expensive tire stand version if you’d like to save a few (hundred) bucks.
