It’s that time of year when a new television is on the Wish List of most households. Fortunately, prices of televisions (and all electronics) have tanked. If you don’t mind spending a little more for cinema quality, then you will want to look at LG OLED TVs. There is a reason why Consumer Reports continues to rank LG TVs as the best performers.

Just what is today’s OLED technology. Well, explaining that would be pretty complex for this general review. Simply put, OLED is the acronym for organic light-emitting diode. The technology is best described by the picture you experience. Think of the extraordinary picture you get with a 4K TV–then try to image a more vibrant picture than that. That’s the realm an OLED takes you.

Features of LG OLED TVs

Picture on Glass–A Work of Art: Amazingly, the image appears to float on a sheet of glass. The Picture-on-Glass design places the thin, flexible, lightweight OLED panel against a simple pane of glass.

Intense Color on Perfect Black: Blacks are as black as the dark night skies. Then imagine vibrant colors against the blackest of black and everything pops. The LG OLED pixels each turn on and off individually to create the unbelievable contrast.

Dolby Vision™ and Dolby Atmos®. True Home Cinema: True cinema-quality experience in the home. Active HDR with Dolby Vision™ provides the highest picture quality on the market. The Dolby Atmos® audio surrounds the viewer just as in the most advanced theaters.

Gorgeous picture from every seat in the room: The picture will pull you in; you will want to stare at it all day long.

webOS 3.5 Smart TV: Queue up movies, TV shows, online content then toggle between them with an intuitive interface. The Magic Remote operates easily with a flick of the wrist and the press of a button.

We just can’t say enough about the new LG OLED line. Are they pricey? Yes, so they aren’t for everyone. Prices range from $2,499 to $7,999.  Sizes available are 55-inch, 65-inch, or 77-inch. Some models have an beefy sound bar built in. You will make a pretty big investment for the best TV on the market; however, there are plenty of deals to be had out there right now. LG is running some pretty sweet deals on many TVs. Our favorites? Any 65-inch would work perfectly in most spaces. If you have a smaller space, a 55-inch is an option. Just shop around; there are plenty of resellers out there vying for your business.

Imagine viewing the Super Bowl on an OLED—in your living room.
