03 Aug The EQ V2 Ti from HEA Designs Is One Unique, Cool Flipper Blade
No two ways about it, this is one of the coolest and most unique knives we’ve ever seen. While most knifemakers are sticking to the tried, true and familiar black and carbon ensembles tactical knives usually have, HEA Designs created a brightly-colored, beautiful knife with tons of unique flavor and an elegant, wavy shape.
Based on the original Equilibrium knife, the EQ V2 Ti features a 6Al4V Aircraft Grade Titanium Frame lock, with sculpted micro texture to ensure you can hold on and use this thing without problem. They’ve been scalloped inside to reduce weight, and feature a machined thumb relief. The blade is M390 steel, 3.5” long and hollow ground from a .125” stock. They’ve given it an entirely new shape with a primary grind and new swedge style, and finished it with a two-tone, ceramic bead blast and hand-finished satin.
At 4.9” long by 1.1” wide, it’s a compact but sturdy knife that fits right in your back pocket without complaint. There’s a whole host of new features and detailing they’ve built in to make this a durable beast with buttery smooth operation, including multi-row ceramic bearings, ceramic indent, over-travel stop, and a redesigned flipper tab. But to us, the real selling point is that beautiful, curvy shape and exotic handle colors.
It’s a pricey knife for sure, but it is HEA Designs – so it may totally be worth it. If you’d like one, it’ll run you about $349. We’re definitely partial to that Green handle.
