Gerber, one of the best multi-tool makers in the business, has just released two new awesome, versatile, multi-tools – the Truss and Suspension NXT.
The Suspension NXT is an upgrade to the already-famous Suspension – but this time with an expanded toolset of 15 tools including Needle Nose Pliers, Regular Pliers, Wire Cutter, and a brand new, longer, 2.25” Combo Edge Blade. It also boasts a 25% lighter, thinner body, at only 6.5 ounces, which helps make it more suitable for EDC carry. Many of the 15 tools are located on the outside of the knife, making them easier to access in a pinch. Furthermore, it has new stainless-steel pocket clip – an important touch missing from the original Gerber Suspension. Gerber intends it to be an all-around knife suitable for outdoor expedition to everyday use.
The Truss is also built off the original Suspension but offers something a little more unique and original. It has outboard and locking tools, just like the Suspension, but also offers wire stripper, medium flathead driver, awl, file, and ruler. It weighs a solid 8.4 ounces at 4.34 inches but is still two ounces less than the original Suspension. It also has a sweet, all-steel, almost skeletal-like design that gives it a formidable look.
Both knives are worthy additions to Gerber’s line – already replete with handy tools – and promise to deliver the tools and results you need. They’re also both very reasonably-priced.
