Cold Steel is a long-time maker of knives, swords, axes, and other bladed weapons. If you’re familiar at all with their various marketing materials, you might find them a little bit cheesy and ridiculous. But that doesn’t mean they don’t make good knives. Case in point: the Cold Steel Golden Eye.
Sure, the name might sound like it comes from James Bond, but the Golden Eye is a solid, worthy pocket knife. The 4-7/8-inch-long G-10 handle is hefty and comfortable in the hand, without being too bulky or heavy. The Htr thumb stud allows for smooth and easy ambidextrous deployment, and the scales on the handle provide texture, so you never lose your grip in harsh, wet conditions. And it’s equipped with Cold Steel’s TRIAD locking mechanism, which keeps the blade firmly locked in place while cut or slice through whatever obstacle is in your way. Lastly, the blade is made of S35VN stainless steel, and features designer Andrew Demko’s signature modified drop point shape.
In the field, the Cold Steel Golden Eye shines. It’s solid and made of extremely high-quality materials, and feels substantial in your hand. An extra-long, slimline steel clip lets you carry it comfortably and with tip-up carry, whether you’re right or left-handed.
