Finding a good pair of active sport headphones can be difficult; often, they’re just too awkward or flimsy for intense activities, and tend to fall out of your ears quite easily. And often when you’ve found a pair that is comfortable and stays in easily, the sound quality just isn’t that great. The Bose Soundsport Pulse delivers on both those fronts – a pair of comfortable, sturdy headphones that sound even better.
The Soundsport Pulse isn’t that different from other sport headphones, but as they are Bose, you can be assured that the sound quality is excellent. What makes them unique, however, is the built-in heart-rate sensor, which keeps track of your heart-rate and activity and connects with the Bose Connect app. The App lets you track your heart-rate readings in time and gauge how far you are pushing yourself – something few (if any) other headphones let you do, and eliminating the need for a separate device. The heartrate monitor also works in conjunction with popular fitness apps like MapMyRun, Runkeeper and Runtastic.
Another cool feature of the Soundsport Pulse is the charging case, which has a built-in battery with up to 18 hours of battery life for charging your headphones on the go. A micro USB port makes this possible and convenient, and a single 15-minute charge provides up to an hour of listening.
The Soundsport Pulse may not provide the same level of deep bass (or noise-cancelling) as some of Bose’s other headphones, but you can’t really expect them to. For a strictly sport-oriented pair that actually stays in your ears – and has some cool fitness features built right in – they’re a great buy.
