06 May The New 2017 Audi R8 is Unbelievable
The Audi R8 has been the stuff of dreams for years, a sports car nearly untouchable by the competition and unbeatable at the track. The newly redesigned, 2nd Generation 2017 model continues the R8’s reputation for absolutely beastly performance.
Audi bills it as “faster, more efficient and more capable” than ever before. They aren’t joking around. The new, naturally aspirated 5.2-liter, V10 puts out over 540hp, 398 lb-ft of torque, and the V10 Plus is capable of over 610hp.
That is fast. Very fast. The R8 can go from 0-60 in less than 3.2 seconds, and top speed maxes out at about 205 MPH.
The new R8 comes standard with some sleek new body features, including an anthracite front grill in gloss, as well as full LED headlights – with Audi’s newly engineered laser high beams in front. The quattro all-wheel drive system allows for smooth and precise handling. The new body design, a revolutionary blend of carbon fiber and aluminum, keeps the body as light and maneuverable as possible, and 40% more rigid than last year’s model. A stainless steel exhaust system with carbon keeps it cool.
The leather interior is gorgeous and luxurious, and Audi’s new VirtualCockpit puts puts everything you need on a 12.3″ TFT display. There are no gauges or needles, and even GPS navigation is built right in. There is also built in 4g LTE with Wifi hotspot.
The R8 is a serious car for serious drivers….it’s much more at home on the track than on the road, and we doubt you’ll be seeing too many of these zipping around town. But if you’re a serious car enthusiast, ready to drop some serious money on a naturally aspirated, mid-engine sports car, the Audi R8 is sure to please.
